Video Poker Rules

Below is a full guide to the hand rankings featured in our online Video Poker Games. All cards are valued in ascending order as follows: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, J, Q, K, A.

 

Jacks or Better:

This requires you to obtain a two Jacks or cards of a greater value. The cards must appear in pairs i.e. Q, Q or K, K.

 

Tens or Better:

This is very similar to Jacks or Better except that the cards must be valued at Ten or above.

Kings or Better:

This is very similar to Jacks or Better, but cards must be King or above.

Two Pair:

This requires two individual pairs of equivalent value i.e. 10, 10, J, J, K, K.

Three of a Kind:

This requires three cards of equal value, e.g. 9, 9, 9.

Straight:

This requires you to accumulate 5 cards with consecutive values i.e. 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. Cards do not have to be in the same suit. If you succeed in 5 consecutive cards in the same suit, it is called a Straight Flush (see details below).

Flush:

This requires you to assemble 5 cards of any value in a single suit. For instance 5 of Clubs, 8 of Clubs, 10 of Clubs, J of Clubs, K of Clubs.

Full House:

This requires a mixture of both Three of a Kind and a single pair i.e. 9, 9, 9, 10, 10.

Four of a Kind:

This requires four cards of identical value i.e. 6, 6, 6, 6.

Four 2's Through 10's:

This is very similar to Four of a Kind except that cards must be valued at 10 or less.

Four Jacks, Queens or Kings:This is similar to Four of a Kind except that cards must be valued at J or higher but no greater than a K.

Four Aces:

This is equivalent to Four of a Kind but is comprised entirely of Aces i.e. A, A, A, A.

4 Deuces:

This is the equivalent of Four of a Kind comprised entirely of 2's i.e. 2, 2, 2, 2.

Straight Flush:

This consists of five cards of the same suit with consecutive values i.e. 6 of Diamonds, 7 of Diamonds, 8 of Diamonds, 9 of Diamonds, 10 of Diamonds.

Five of a Kind:

This requires five cards of identical value. This can only occur in games with a wild card (e.g. Deuces Wild and Joker Poker) since there are only 4 actual suits.

Royal Flush:

This consists of a 10, J, Q, K and A in the same suit.

Wild Royal Flush / Joker Royal Flush:

This is similar to a Royal Flush except that one or more cards may be replaced by a wild card.

Natural Royal Flush:

This is similar to a Royal Flush but features no additional wild cards.
